Cameroon football legend Rigobert Song has come out of coma at the Yaounde Central Hospital, we can report.
A hospital source said the player “woke up” this evening after being unconscious for more than a day.
The state media reported earlier in the day that his conditions was “stable but critical”
Song was brought to the hospital Sunday after becoming unconscious, according to family members.
Doctors said he had suffered a stroke.
Preparations were on to airlift the player to Paris for better care. A medical plane will arrive in Yaounde tomorrow.
Doctors, who had been trying to “stabilise” the player welcomed the news, which they say will make travel less risky.
Song is 41 and played for Cameroon between 1993 and 2010.
