Here is how many Cameroonians are using mobile phones: 16.6 million.
New data from the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB) shows that mobile telephone penetration has reached 80%, up from 71% in 2014.
Newcomers Nexxtel managed to beat the state-run Cameroon Telecommunications to become the third largest operator, even with a tiny slice of the market estimated at 4.66%.
MTN Cameroon is still the sector leader, controlling nearly six of every ten mobile phone users in the country, way ahead of Orange Cameroun with a market share of 36.7%.
Together, MTN and Orange control 93.8 per cent of the market.
The latest estimate is for 2015 and the market is already expanding in 2016 with the launch of 4G networks by MTN and Orange.
